I see. the original D70 plus wide open lens is almost real time.

ahha realtime? no. It's more of a shot in the dark, literally

I have a tutorial [link]

I have lots of experience with shooting IR, but thanks. Compared to the 30sec I use with the D80, 1/3s is realtime.:)

30sec? If my camera only allowed 30sec with IR I'd immediately switch to IR film...

I just joined the D70ers and saw your photo in the gallery. I had to come drop you a comment and fav this great photo.
I am very interested and testing my D70s IR capabilities. What kind of filter do you recommend?

Thank you for your interest :)

I use a Hoya R72, it's the best for this kind of photography, I think... :P

It all depends if you want colored IR or B&W IR

wow great! i've never seen a IR shot of a palm before! lookes great! did you use the kit lens?
i just ask because i got several IR filters and they didn't work that well with my old Canon Powershot G5.
I'm realy looking forward the the spring!

Yes I used the kit lenses! I wish I had a fixed lens, it's a pain in the #$% to work with IR and zoom lenses :P

realy? why? (sorry i'm quite new to IR Photography)

IR light focus diferently from visible light, so you never know if you're focusing right with a zoom lens. A fixed lens has a tiny mark that helps you focus. So with me it's more like trial and error, and taking tons of shots of the same thing while rotating the focus ring :P

ahh well thanks! i knew that there is a different focus for ir and visible light, but i didn't know its a big difference ;)

wow :omg: your IR shots are stunning..so much clarity here! IRs are usually grainy & blurry  shows you how much i know about it :giggle: hehe but they fascinate me! anyway, absolute prefect composition..everything.
